Expires on: 08-Jul-08
Last Updated on: 08-Jul-07

A few days later I have created a blog for that domain, no link building after that, and I havent submit it to any search engine.
Yester day 22-Jul-07 I went online to do sum link building for the new domain and it stroke on my mind to check it in Google catch and I was surprised to find it in the index.

I know that the website will not rank for any keyword but still get it in the index that fast with 0 efforts is a good thing
and while asking my self how did Google know about the domain .. there is 2 possibilities:
- Google is using the toolbar data to index page .. so may be in future Google will use the tool bar in a similar way to Alexa tool bar to rank and index pages
- Google is a domain register and they might use their data to add new domains to their search index.
Finally quick indexing has many benefits especially for those who provide good content, it is easy for them to be identified as the source of these content

SEO, It is Not Just About Ranking

May 18th, 2007

Most seo (and I am one of them) fight to achieve good ranking with search engines, something like first spot with Google for highly searched keyword will be such a great event to celebrate, BUT the problem is few SEOs  care about the click through rate, CTR might be a term that attached strictly to paid search and it is not a word of the SEOs dictionary.

Why the organic CTR is very important ?

1- Simply, the more clicks you have on your link the more traffic you get.
2- We all know that for Adwords CTR  plays a big role in the position and cost of your ad, the more clicks you get on your ad the better ranking you get for it and the less your cost is, it is a kind of reward from Google since you offer attractive related website for the audience. For organic search the same system is adopted by Google, it is will known now that visitors behavior plays a big role in the SERP, the more clicks your site gets the better ranking it gets, since Google find it good and related.

How to increase my organic CTR ?

- Backing to Adwords, you have three parameters those you control on your ad so you need to optimize them:
1- Your landing page, which in the case of organic is the page that ranks for a specific term, try to make it as useful/attractive as much as you can, track always the bouncing rate for this page, Google can track how many people get back to search again after few seconds since they land on your website, and this is a bad indicator that Google might take against your website and lower your ranking according to it.
2- The clickable link text (anchor text), in organic search this is most likely the title tag, so tray to optimize it as much as you can to be attractive not just to be keyword rich, “web hosting” is really good one to target the term, but it is not good incentive for clicks, “Affordable Web Hosting  99.99% up time guaranteed” would be a good one (make sure that you really offer what you say).
3- The snippet, this one most likely taken from your description tag, sometimes from your page content, any way always make sure to know where does search engine take it from and try to make it under your control, make sure that it is informative, it can include up to 20 words which is really good amount of text to write some attractive information about your website, make sure to make it full and ended with a period, do not let search engine cut it and take the uncompleted part of  what you do you want to say.

Finally, wish you the best organic CTR

10 Tips to Use Google For Your Keyword Competition Analysis

April 24th, 2007

The most important factor in any seo project is the keyword research, you need to do keyword research to choose some high searched keywords for your project. It is also very important to analyze the competition of your keyword to be able to do some estimate about the effort and the money those the project might cost, so if you are  seo company it is good to know that before quoting the customer.

You may ask yourself why do I need that, is not the highest searched keyword is the most competitive one ? And the answer is; not all the times.
So let us assume that you have done your keyword research using Overture and chosen your main keyword (I will assume that it is “search engine optimization“) and it is time to measure the competition of this keyword using Google, I will use this convention; I will ask you a quesiotn and when the answer is yes from your side so it means the keyword is more competitive:

1- Search this keyword in Google and check if you can see Google Adwords on the result page, if yes are they a lot ? Is there “more sponsored ads” link at the bottom of the ad column ? Can you see horizontal ads above the results ?
2- Scan the first two pages quickly, are most pages those shown on the results  home pages ?
3- Check Google PR for the results on the first page, is there a lot of them +5 ?
4- Use Google allintitle operator. allintitle:”search engine optimization“, big numbers (i.e. +10 000) is high competition indication
5- Use Google allinanchor operator. allinanchor:”search engine optimization“, when you see a big number it means there are a lot of seo practices being done for this key phrase, since anchor text is SEOs preferred technic
6- Use Google allinurl operator. allinanchor:”search engine optimization“, this also SEOs preferred technic when you see a lot of results then the guys there for you :)
7- Use Google allintext operator. allintext:”search engine optimization“, this is good to check how many websites have this key phrase in the body of the page
8- Check the number of results that Google returns are they a lot ?
9- Can you see results from Wikipedia ? this is another indication about competitive keywords since Google tend to show results from WikIpEdia for high searched broad keywords.
10- I am still looking for one, but as you know for promotional reasons you can’t say 9 tips :)

April 18th, 2007

If you are a Blogger you must read online about Bloggers those make a lot money online, let me give you some tips how to transform your Blog into a money machine.

There is mainly 2 methods to make money from your Blog:

1- Advertising programs like Google Adsense, this method is very good to monetize your Blog but you need a lot of traffic to earn significant income

2- Paid posts. Bloggers now charge from $5 to $500 to blog about a website and place a link to that site with a requested anchor text, you may ask now what shall I do to charge $500 per post ?

If you answer this question ”why those people paying me to Blog about your website?” you will know how you can charge more. Ok I will save your time and tell you how, actually they are paying you to get an inbound link from your Blog, the best way to get a link back is to get it from a Blog, since it comes from rich text page. So now you need to know how to make a link in your Blog worth more:

1- The higher Google page rank your Blog has the more money you can charge per post.

2- Niche Blogs will be able to charge more as the related websites will be more interested to get links from Blogs have their same theme.

3- Good to have your Blog on top level domain, don’t use free hosts.

4- Have a custom nice design for your Blog and don’t stuff it with adds and banners.

5- Try to be the authority in your niche, offer unique quality information  … BRAND YOURSELF

So now are you satisfied with your Blog and you think it is ready to be your money machine  …   if the answer is yes then you have many choices to monetize it through paid posting:

Aviva Directory – Alive Directory .. slow down guys

April 13th, 2007

Aviva Directory – Alive Directory .. slow down guys

In the last three years the web directories industry has witnessed a significant booming, the reason behind that in my opinion is:

1- More webmasters get educated about seo and they know the impotency of inbound links in controlling the SERP so the demand for links has increased.

2- Links exchange has lost a lot of its value so the concentration now turned to the one way inbound links.

3- Getting one way inbound link from quality high PR website is getting harder.

So paid directories come as a good solution, it is fast affordable way to build links. Aviva directory and Alive directory are the new generation of web directories, they are high PR well promoted directories which I loved to add my websites there until the last month when they have changed their packages to more expensive annual fee based ones, and I think the reason they are charging so much is that they have high PR categories so it is a kind of blatant links selling now rather than directory submission especially that your listing their is with zero traffic guaranteed.

So guys slow down, even the oldest biggest directories like botw.org or uncoverthenet.com have one time fee listing, you need to know that many of your clients are seo companies those offer on time seo service package or one year seo course, so they would like to use affordable one time fee directory, for me I took both of you from my paid directory submission list and found another affordable directories those have one time packages and they are high PR (even their categories), so smaller directory owners should be appreciated for that.

Cheers

SEO Fortune Teller 2007

March 31st, 2007

I know I am late to write some expectations about how seo will look like in 2007, first of all let us go back to 2006 and check which factor had the biggest effect on the SERP, the answer is inbound links, no matter what you read daily about on page factors (Titles, meta tags, HTML tags), inbound links especially when it comes to highly competitive keywords had absolutely a the hugest impact on the SERP. For sure when we say inbound links we can’t ignore the factor those give more value to your inbound links like: anchor text anchor text relevancy, quality, quantity etc. (I didn’t repeat anchor text by mistake)

Now in 2007 what do you think will change ?

I have a list of high competitive keywords, some of them has more than 200 000 search volume with Overture those my websites or a website those I have seoed rank very will for them in Google and to be more specific top 5 spots in Google, and I have got this good ranking through a lot of quality inbound links with targeted anchor text. Until today I still have them ranking well, which means inbound links with targeted anchor text still works, BUT I have some concerns about the future of this technique in 2007 and I will till you why.

I think you have read at the beginning of this year that Google has killed Google bombs, and the idea behind Google bombs is getting thousands of inbound links to point to a page with a specific anchor text (Most likely funny term and doesn’t have anything to do with the page content) which will rank it in the first spot for that term. So as Google killed Google bomb, that means they have tweaked their algorithm but is that tweaking going to undermine the anchor text value ?

Killing Google bomb could be done easily without that, if the robot just check the document for the targeted anchor and doesn’t find it can count it not unrelated (I hope they are using this simple technique).

What increased my fears is a thread that I have read in WMW this day says that some webmasters start losing some ranking being gained using the anchor text technique.

You know what, I will not go farther with this thread without more evidence, meanwhile I am doing some kind of case study to rank will for a high competition term and I started this after Google killing the Google bomb, so far no luck but I still need to wait few extra months before any final conclusions, I will update this post when I get any significant results

Cheers

Blog Roll – The New Generation of Links Exchange

February 25th, 2007

The good days of links exchange strategy in search engine optimization has gone, and if we do a fast revision about the history of this technique, the life span will look like this:

1- Before 2004 – most webmasters were doing aggressive link exchange, no matter with whom and no matter how much, it is just about numbers, they just care more inbound links to your site even if that results thousands of out bound irrelative links on your site.

2- 2005 was the year of relevancy for webmasters, they started checking how much this website is related to theirs before exchanging link with it, regardless of the quality and unique content that this site has (They still care about numbers of websites)

3- 2006 was the your of relevancy and quality regardless of numbers, most webmaster now tend to exchange links with few websites (May be just 10 websites) have the same theme and contain unique quality content

As the popularity of the blogs (Especially in webmasters related website) increases day by day, and if I am right in my expectation about the future of links exchange, blog roll will be the new generation of links exchange for many reason:

-Blog roll will be shown site wide, so blog owners will be careful a lot before listing any website in their blog roll (They will check the quality and relevancy a lot)

- Blog roll menu has a limited number of websites it can hold (More than 10 you will get ugly look), so any page will not have a big number of outbound links which may reduce the value of the inbound link that counted for you.

- Because Blog roll is site wide, that will give more value to your link (Many webmasters don’t like site wide links but I am sure it is safe in this case)

- Again as Blog roll is site wide and it is shown on all Blog posts (Unlike the links exchange pages those being buried in the site) then you will have a very good potential to get good amount of traffic

- I can see Blog roll as a chance to build a good relation with webmasters in your theme, which may develop to business relationship of partnership

Finally I need to tell all webmasters those have seo blogs with quality content to request being in my blog roll, it will be my pleasure

My SEO Dream

February 24th, 2007

“I Have a Dream” is the popular name given to the historic public speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., when he spoke of his desire for a future where blacks and whites would coexist harmoniously as equals.

I like a lot this speech, especially its title “I have a dream”, people or life may prevent you from achieving your goals but nothing can prevent you from dreaming, our dream is a spot light in the darkness of realty. As a seo (search engine optimization) guy what may your dream looks like? Let me share you my dream (I thinks many SEOs have it), it is being on the first spot when you search Google for “search engine optimization” !! Does that look impossible, may be yes but when it comes to dreams it is not a problem, but still if you need your dream to come true (If it subjects to the rules of nature at least) you may need:
- Hard working   (I am working daily on that but I don’t have enough time and budget)
- Time (I am still 33 years old so I hope I still have some more extra years to live and see this dream come true)
- Luck (I am now sure about if I have that much luck)

Any way it is 12 AM now and I have a full stomach and my bottle of beer is almost finished, my bed looks charming for me at this moment .. It is dreams time
